Electronic Archiving

Jurnal Hurriah: Journal of Educational Evaluation and Research, we are committed to ensuring the long-term survival, accessibility, and integrity of all published scholarly work. To safeguard the permanent academic record against digital loss or platform failure, the journal utilizes the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN) as its primary digital preservation service.

1. Preservation through PKP PN

The journal utilizes the PKP PN plugin integrated within our Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to automatically deposit and preserve published articles.

PKP PN operates independently of the journal's primary publishing website, creating secure, distributed digital copies of all published issues. This ensures that the scholarly record remains safely archived and accessible even in the event of permanent technical interruptions on our main server. Information about the service is available in the official PKP Preservation Network documentation .

2. Coverage and Monitoring

  • What is Preserved: Digital preservation covers all successfully processed published articles, final PDF documents, and essential metadata deposited through the PKP PN system. Confidential manuscript submissions, peer-review reports, and private editorial correspondence are excluded from public archiving networks.

  • Active Monitoring: The journal's technical and editorial teams actively monitor deposit statuses to ensure successful processing. Preservation coverage is established by confirmed system processing rather than the mere activation of the archiving plugin.

3. Access to Preserved Content

  • Dark Archive Operation: PKP PN functions primarily as a secure "dark archive." Preserved backup copies are not normally accessible for everyday public browsing through the preservation network itself, as routine access is provided directly via the journal website

  • Readers may access published issues through the Journal Archives.
  • Trigger Events: In the event of a qualifying catastrophic disruption—such as the permanent cessation of the journal's primary publishing platform—preserved copies can be made publicly accessible in accordance with PKP PN governance procedures. Temporary website maintenance or minor server downtime does not trigger public release from the archive.
